Royale paris chrono bpm

The night's sports watch

With the Royale Paris Chrono BPM, the French Manufacture Pequignet brings electronic music and the chronograph together on a single dial. The tachymeter scale gives way to a BPM (Beats Per Minute) graduation, transforming a sporting measuring instrument into a musical compass.

Between each beat of the seconds hand, the melody comes to life.

Two disciplines of excellence, born in France two centuries apart. The chronograph, invented in the 19th century, measures performance. French Touch, which emerged in Parisian clubs in the late 1990s, transformed electronic music into a universal language. Both share the same exacting approach to tempo, the same obsession with detail, and the same pride in a French heritage instantly recognisable around the world.

With the Royale Paris Chrono BPM, French Manufacture Pequignet brings these two legacies together on a single dial. The tachymeter scale gives way to a BPM (Beats Per Minute) graduation, transforming a sporting measuring instrument into a musical compass. Like a pulsometer, with the pusher activated, simply count 30 bass-drum beats and the scale reveals where you stand: between 110 and 130 BPM, groove to French Touch. At 60 BPM, Reggae sooths a hectic day. From 70 to 95 BPM, it is 90’s rap and beyond 140 BPM, eyes closed, arms in the air, trance music is the atmosphere.

The dial draws on colour codes familiar to an entire generation: an electric-blue gradient, from azure evenings to the dark nights of minimalist clubs for those who stay out until late. The sound bars, represented between midnight and 2 a.m., are a nod to the importance of maintaining balanced, unclipped sound — something every true music lover respects before pressing play on the next track.

In te center of it all, the Calibre Initial® Chronograph, Pequignet’s fifth Manufacture movement, takes on the role of a metronome.

The Pequignet Manufacture holds the prestigious "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" (EPV) label. French Touch is part of France’s intangible cultural heritage and is set to be submitted for UNESCO recognition.

Two distinctions. One watch.

The beat becomes tempo, the pulse becomes measure, time becomes music.

From Time to Tempo

With the Royale Paris BPM, the tachymeter scale gives way to a BPM (beats per minute) graduation, transforming a sporting measuring instrument into a musical compass.

The BPM scale works on the principle of a pulsometer. Simply activate the chronograph and count 30 beats, thirty bass-drum hits in a house track, and the scale indicates the number of beats per minute.

From French Touch to its dancefloor neighbours, the scale reads every tempo.

140 BPM and above

Time accelerates.

The rhythm reaches its highest intensity. The tempo rises sharply, creating a sense of urgency, power and euphoria. This pace is particularly characteristic of techno, trance and drum & bass.

110 to 130 BPM

Time in motion. French Touch in action

From 110 to 130 BPM, time accelerates and the rhythm picks up. This is the heartbeat of pop, disco, house and of course French Touch, bringing a radiant energy and an irresistibly danceable pulse.

70 to 95 BPM

From 70 to 95 BPM, we settle into the rhythm of everyday life. A comfortable, organic and fluid tempo, perfect for moving forward without rushing. The favourite playground of hip-hop, soul and jazz.

60 BPM

At 60 BPM, time takes its time: one beat per second, smooth and unhurried. A tempo that breathes, ideal for contemplation, intimacy and the warm notes of reggae. A gentle pause in time, where we finally take the time to listen.

A dial in the colours of French Touch

A dial in the colours of French Touch. An electric-blue gradient captures the essence of Riviera nights before fading into the deep black of minimalist clubs.

Between midnight and 2 a.m., the hour markers take the form of the bars on a mixing desk VU meter, stopping discreetly before the red zone to keep the sound perfectly controlled.

Everything is elegantly expressed through the timeless codes of the Royale Paris collection: applied lugs, concave gouge and exceptional finishing.

Aesthetics, robustness and precision.

The chronograph features a cam-operated architecture, providing a crisp and robust actuation. Its operation is also less sensitive to shocks than that of a column-wheel chronograph.

It displays the small seconds at 3 o’clock and the 30-minute chronograph counter at 9 o’clock. It is equipped with an offset stem system, allowing the crown and pushers to be perfectly aligned

When the chronograph follows the pulse of the night.

When Haute Horlogerie meets the French Touch.

Born in Paris in the mid-1990s and exported to dance floors around the world, the French Touch made rythm its signature: a steady beat, filtered loops, and metronomic precision. The Royale Paris Chrono BPM translates it into mechanical form.

An emblem of French electronic music, now included in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage, the French Touch finds in the Royale Paris Chrono BPM its horological expression, united by a common measure: that of time and tempo.

The Calibre Initial® Chronograph: a Manufacture movement

To power this new chronograph, Pequignet has developed a movement based on the Calibre Initial®, enhanced with new finishes.

This fifth Pequignet movement was designed and developed in partnership with a prestigious Swiss maison, a world-renowned specialist in high-end watchmaking complications.

The Calibre Initial® Chronograph was developed to offer a chronograph watch while keeping its overall thickness under control. Like all Manufacture movements, it receives meticulous attention and is regulated in six positions. Particular care has been devoted to the movement’s decoration, with the aim of giving it a more matte, more urban visual character. As with the Manufacture’s four other in-house movements, all components are sourced within a radius of less than 80 kilometres from the Morteau Manufacture.
